Mathias Kaden is a German DJ and producer, born in 1981 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz, and raised in Gera and Ronneburg, Thuringia. He began DJing in the mid-1990s after being inspired by the first house and techno DJs at Bioxultra in Gera, and got his first turntables at the age of 14. Since 1998, he has been closely associated with the Muna club in Bad Klosterlausnitz, near Gera/Jena, where he became a long-standing resident. Kaden first released music together with Marek Hemmann as Hemmann & Kaden, with early EPs appearing on the Jena label Freude am Tanzen. As a solo artist he became closely linked to labels including Vakant, Freude am Tanzen, Rekids, Desolat, Watergate Records, Pets Recordings, Diynamic and Ovum Recordings. His debut album, Studio 10, was released on Vakant in 2009, followed by further albums including Energetic and work under his dub-influenced alias Mathimidori. Kaden is also connected to the project Karocel, formed with Marbert Rocel and percussionist Michael Nagler for a live set at Nachtdigital in 2010. In 2014 he created Muna Musik, a label connected to the Muna club, beginning with the 20 Jahre Muna compilation.
