I started DJing in the late 90s, with my first mixtapes being put together on dodgy CD players and recorded straight to cassette. Gareth Hansome of the Big Beat Boutique gave me my first bit of advice as an eager teen: learn to mix! A mixer without a cue meant I’d focussed on selection and progression; I continued with this approach but got traditional, bought turntables, and learnt the craft. I’m currently a resident, and host the open decks night, at All My Friends, have a show on Netil Radio, run sporadic events as Mash 101.3, put on parties with Orbital Sounds and release everything but music under my label, Emergency Use Only. Venues, residencies and artists supported: Bonobo, DJ Yoda, Maribou State, Mafalda, Alexander Nut, Dance Tunnel, Andras & Oscar, Oval Space, MMM, Village Underground, The Roundhouse, Glowing Palms, Spiritland, The Cause, Brilliant Corners, Secret Garden Party, Apiento, Emma-Jean Thackray, The Social, Howie B, Wes Baggaley, Michelle Manetti, Eliza Rose, Overmono Some of it makes sense, but I try to make sure it doesn’t.
